- 04 Mar 2010 indoor Stewart White: Conservation and Community in Ecuador - seven years of the Payamino Project
Stewart White is a zoologist at Glasgow University, with a particular interest in tropical ornithology. He'll talk briefly about Ecuador, particularly the forest community where he has worked for a number of summers. He has been closely involved with the Payamino Project, which was set up in 2002 to promote both nature conservation and the maintenance of the way of life of the indigenous people. As Stewart will describe, the project has gone a long way to achieve these two aims and has also enhanced the experiences of the many Glasgow students who have taken part in the project.
- 12-14 Mar 2010 weekend Glen Feshie Hostel
Glen Feshie hostel. NH849009 OS Landranger 35 (Maps 36 and 43 might be useful here.)
The Glen Feshie hostel is rightly famous for its cosy atmosphere and since its full compliment is only 16 people, it’s sure to be popular so book early. The area is handy for lots of big hills and the longer daylight and abundance of snow, this winter, could give some classic walks.
Cost is £28/person for the two nights. Please send cheques to Gordon ASAP.
- 18 Mar 2010 indoor Mary Cox Glenmore Girls Go Snowshoeing
Mary will take you through the delights of snowshoeing in the company of Elizabeth, Sue and Rosi. Come and find out about our trips to the Picos de Europa in 2008, the Pyrenees in 2009 and the Queyras Regional Park in South East France in 2010. With the winter we’ve had at home this year some of you may be inspired to consider investing in your own snowshoes after the talk.
