Glasgow Glenmore Club

Inver Croft Weekend 13th-16th July 2007

This was the first time Glenmore had used Inver Croft hut as a programmed meet. A lot of work has been put into this hut by the Jacobite Club and it was very comfortable and had a fabulous new kitchen.

Mary Cox, Elizabeth M, Janet, Sandy and David F all arrived on the Friday night. Sue, Gordon, John D, Gill and Arthur came up on the Saturday.

It is a short walk to the hut but it is over a bridge and then along a two plank walk-way and a sometimes muddy path and then a nice grassy path. However, it rained heavily all Friday night and on Saturday morning the muddy path was really a stream but at least the water didn’t get over the plank walkways! Only Gill and Arthur read the Inver Croft website carefully and brought their wellies!

After negotiating the way to the road Beinn Tharsuinn and Sgurr na Feartaig were climbed on Saturday by Mary, Elizabeth, Janet, Sandy and David. Mary’s friend Dave from Liverpool joined us as he was based at Poolewe. It was a good opportunity for him to meet up with Mary and do the two hills which he had not done. The weather started off looking grim but we had a few showers early on and then it cleared and we had great views on the tops. However, we did have a two wire bridge to cross and here is Mary making her way across.

On Sunday Sue was about to climb her FINAL CORBETT, Beinn Dronaig. She was joined by Gordon, Gill, Arthur, John, Mary and Sandy while Elizabeth, Janet and David went up Fuar Tholl.

Sunday was a great day for weather and the Compleation party even came back sunburnt! We had a great party on Sunday evening; champagne, wine, cake. Congratulations Sue on finishing your Corbetts.

It was a great weekend and a very special one with Sue finishing her Corbetts. Are the Grahams calling Sue?
