Ceilidh Dance Practice.
Harrold, Bill and a special guest Marjorie organised the practice
before the big event next month a disappointing 17 members turned up.
However those of us present had a good time and ran through 4 dances I
think. Although; I have to confess they do tend to merge in my memory.
In no particular order there were the White Cockade, Good Hearted
Glasgow, Ayrshire lads out for a night on the pull (or something like
that) and I think The Duke of Perth. If anyone present thinks it was
different just remember history is written by the victor or at least the
minute taker.
The first time I did Good Hearted Glasgow (written for the Garden
Festival I believe) I recall being helpless with mirth watching some
friends being led through it by an expert who looked less than chuffed
by their ineptitude and lack of respect. So repetitive and yet so hard.
I do remember laughing a lot as a partner shot off in an unexpected
direction or forgot the next part. Do couples who know what their doing
get as much pleasure as numpties .The joy of finishing a good number of
bars before the music should also never be forgotten.
