Glen Luss December 11th 2005
We were far too early in the car park. I always
forget how close these hills are. About 30 minutes from the West End and
I was not pushing it, partly because the car was playing up a little.
David Foster was punctual at the door and we no longer needed to collect
Peter Williams a prospective member from Byers Road as he twisted his
ankle on Ben Venue two weeks earlier.
Brian, and Elizabeth Maitland with Susie Johnston
(another prospective member) were waiting and Dave Reynolds car was
spotted he had brought June Ashworth and Danny Kraune (another two
prospective members) along. Soon Hugh turned up with Ingrid in the
smaller of his cars. Stephen Rodgers appeared. Stephen is an old member
considering rejoining and Mary Hill was last and just caught the group
for beinn Dubh as they left the car park. The weather was overcast with
the promise of rain later in the day. This occurred as predicted by the
Met Office at Noon just as we were struggling up the slope of Beinn Eich.
The groups split as Follows.
Route 1
Glen Luss Beinn Eich Doune Hill and return down Glen
Mollochan.
Gordon, Elizabeth, Brian, Dave Foster, Hugh and Susie
Johnston
Route 2
Luss to Beinn Dubh, Coire na h Eanachan then back to
Glen Luss over Mid Hill.
Dave Reynolds, Jimmy Stevenson, Mary Hill, Ingrid,
June Ashworth, Danny Kraune, Stephen Rodgers and Janet Gaywood.
Route 2 made it back to the Colquhoun Arms for a
drink first. The bar was warm dry and welcoming. Elizabeth met the
Holiday Fellowship brigade she played for before promotion to the
Premiership.
Although the weather was fairly foul most seemed to
have an enjoyable day and it proved a good pre-Christmas worth out to
burn a few calories.
