Arran - Saturday 10 September 2005 We had a pleasant
sail over to Arran and some of us had Bacon rolls and coffee to set us
up for the day. Two groups caught the bus to Sannox with a party of
golfers from Glasgow (I won’t name the area in Glasgow but they came
from the vicinity of Gordon’s shop!) They had been drinking on the boat
over and one of the party was very very drunk and it was only 11.00 am.!
I am sure the Glenmore group was glad when the bus arrived at Sannox.
The first group included Chris Everett, Phyllis Smith, David Foster,
Ania Owsianka and her friend Gabrielle. They went up Caisteal Abhail
from Glen Sannox and came down Glen Rosa. The mist made navigation
difficult and they decided not to continue on to Cir Mhor and Beinn
Tarsuinn.
The second group included Alan Stevenson, Caroline Thompson, Chris
Huxham, Bill McIntyre, Ingrid Parker, Linda Clarke. They went up Glen
Sannox to Goatfell and came down at Corrie. There was a bit of
excitement as the bus was 10 minutes late and they just managed to get
to Brodick for the 7.20 ferry!
Dave Reynolds, Isobel Freeman and Liz Maitland went up Beinn Tarsuinn
from Glen Rosa and even managed to pick brambles for Isobel’s Brambles
and Apple Crumble on the way back.
Last but certainly not least, Liz Asher brought her bike and she
managed to cycle round the whole island.
With everyone back on board
(with the exception of David Foster who had planned to have another day
or two on Arran) we all agreed that a good day was had by everyone.
