EVENING WALK ON THURSDAY 30TH JUNE 2005 It seemed
like a good idea to have a midsummer evening walk which the Club
probably hadn’t organised for quite a few years. A nice warm, dry and
clear summer’s evening on the Campsies with great views – that was the
theory, but mid-afternoon couldn’t have been wetter, and the rain
continued right on into the evening.
But four of us braved the elements to meet near Glengoyne distillery
– Henry Perfect, Caroline Thompson, Suzanne Ullmann and Ingrid Parker
and then, as if on cue, the rain stopped and the clouds broke up at
7.30pm exactly. We then had an enjoyable stroll up Dumgoyne and down
again, with only sporadic attacks from midges, and to round off the
evening had a pleasant drink afterwards in the Kirkhouse Inn at
Strathblane.
It was a most enjoyable evening and will be repeated next year when
hopefully the weather will be better.
