Jodi Smith’s Talk 10th March 2005 It was really good to
see Jodi again. Some of you may recall that Jodi’s husband, Nigel was
active in the Club until other commitments left him with insufficient
time to continue as a member.
Jodi specialises in the treatment of sports injuries and has her
practice in Kirkintilloch.
Rosemary had occasion to be very grateful for her expertise when a
swollen knee problem threatened our trip to Nepal.
Jodi had kindly agreed to come and talk to us about common injuries
associated with Hill Walking. She had an excellent series of
accompanying slides showing the internal workings of the joints crucial
for walking and had a fully working model of a rather gruesome knee
joint. After listening to her exposition of the mechanics involved in
taking two steps I was amazed that with my limited cognitive capacity I
was able to take even a single step, far less climb a Munro! Given the
changing demographics within the Glenmore Club, physiotherapy treatment
may becoming an increasingly high priority for members. Both Rosemary
and I can, from personal experience, give the highest recommendation to
Jodi’s sympathetic treatment of ageing sports folk.
