Rest and be Thankful

12 – Dec – 2004

Phylis said it would be clear on the top – just a minor inversion she promised as we stood in the wind and clag in the car park. The mobile café wasn’t open yet so no chance for a quick bacon roll and coffee either.

Down to the Butterbridge – weather still rubbish. The old road was a complete quaqmire as the 9 of us started up Beinn an Lochain. An uneventful ascent and yes the summit was just at the top of the cloud and we have a pictures to prove it!

Down the short steep side to the carpark where Arthur got the cars back and quickly into the best pub in Argyll – the Village Inn in Arrochar.

The 9 who set out were Jimmy & Phylis Smith, Isobel, Dave, Craig (friend of Isobels), Arthur, Gill Cook, Chris Everet and Linda Clark – a prospective new member.

Meanwhile Jimmy Steveson, Hugh and Dave Reynolds ascended Beinn Luibhan and John & Andrew Barnes plus Liz Asher did the Corbett Beinn an Fhidhleir – both parties also starting and finishing at Butterbridge.
