Was this a record for a Glenmore day meet – everybody with their
routes and parties organised and speeding off into the distance before
or just after the meeting time of 9.30 ?
The weather for the day was sunny with a light haze below about 2500
feet, with little or no wind. Out of the sun it was very cold. There was
patchy snow cover on the tops with some sections on north facing slopes
frozen hard.
The routes completed were
David Harrison, Dave Reynolds, Alice Mitchell, Fiona Mitchell and
Isobel Freeman - Meall Corranaich and then Meall a’ Choire Leith.
Brian McDaid, Ruth, Cyril,Liz Maitland and Gill Cook – the
Tarmachan ridge from north to south returning by way of the quarry
access road.
Jim Stevenson and Alison McLaren – from Kenknock to the cairn on
the Hydro road to Meal nan Subh and back.
Malcolm, Colin Farrow and Henry Perfect – Ben Lawers by way of
Meall Corranaich and Beinn Ghlas, with a return back over Beinn Ghlas to
the visitor centre car park.
Gordon Dykes, Chris Everett, Dave Broadfoot, Sue Johnston, Mary
Cunningham and Fiona Mish (prospective new member) – from the cairn on
the Glen Lochay to Glen Lyon road to Beinn Heasgararnich, then on to
Creag Mhor and Stob nan Clach (on the descent from the last named Gordon
was still feeling frisky so he took in Cam Chreag – an adjacent
Corbett). Return was by way of the high level track along Glen Lochay.
