Christmas Ceilidh - 13th December 2002
This year it had been decided to break with tradition and the Ceilidh
was held in Toby’s Bar in Jordanhill College.
I for one was fascinated to see how it would all work out and was
pleased to see that it turned out a great success.
The dance area was perhaps a bit snug but it was separate from the
cosy seating area around the bar and this seemed to give a lot more
opportunity for people to chat and catch up.
This was just as well as it was very well attended and there were
folk from far and wide coming from Aberdeen, Edinburgh and beyond!
It didn’t put anybody off dancing though as, from the first, the
floor was crammed - every dance was fast and furious apart from the
tricky ones that Harrold was allowed to torture us with!
The music was laid on by the "Reel Thing" – always
guaranteed to get the feet tapping.
The promised pool table was there but unavailable we were told –
however only until "Big Dave" (Webster) stepped in with an
offer they couldn’t refuse – after that "happy teenagers"!
Once again it all flew by so quickly it seemed to finish all to
early!
One downside I thought was the buffet which didn’t really compare
to the usual ramshackle but delightfully exotic homemade offerings that
we have been used to in the past.
However all in all a brilliant night enjoyed by all in a great new location – a pointer to the future.
