Glasgow Glenmore Club

Glencoe Sunday 15th September 2002

An early autumn morning, Glencoe, sunshine, friends craic, laughter, old friends and new faces. The promise of birthday cake at the end, for the birthday boy’s big FOUR-O. Yea, a good way to start the new Glenmore season. Parties being formed.

Who? Where? Maybe! Lazy! Have we got to go?

Cars moved off slowly. Ingrid Parker, Bill McIntyre and Alastair McLean headed for Polldubh at the back of Nevis to go rock climbing.

Garrey Whyte and Rosemary Masterton went for Sron na Creise and Meall a’Bhuiridh

Two parties on Bidean nam Bian and its satellites. The first was Allison McLaren, Dave Reynolds, Janet Gaywood and Tim Mason. The second made up of Dave Webster, Isobel Freeman and Alan + Mary Cunningham followed.

The largest group did the Aonach Eagach ridge. Hedonists all. Chris Everett. Hugh Bourhill, Dave Broadfoot, Gill Cook, John Donnelly, Gordon Dykes, Gavin Muir, Ruth Keighley and Brian McDaid. (Thanks to Chris for walking around to get he back marker “limpy” back to the Kingshouse.

So back to the Kingshouse for several slices of Gordon’s Birthday Cake, a special delivery from Sue, Cora and Eilidh. A nice way to round off a very good start to the season.

P.S. Chris Huxham, Dave Crowther and friends were also out. I am sorry I don’t have particulars of their route but I am sure they had a fine, fine day, like the rest of us.
