| Day meet Sunday 12th October 2003
Glen Trool car park at the foot of the Merrick was the meeting point
for an outing amidst the glorious colours of autumn leaves. The areas is
reminiscent of the Trossachs. Unfortunately, there was some mist on the
tops.
The majority opted for the horseshoe of the Merrick with a large
group comprising Garrey Whyte, Rosemary Masterton, Elizabeth Maitland,
Anna Fochi, David and Colin Farrow, Alice Mitchell, David Harrison,
Alistair McLean completing the route with some navigation required at
the summit.
Followed by another group of Brian McDaid, Hugh and Pauline Bourhill,
Dave and Gavin Reynolds, Jimmy and Ruth Stevenson, the Merrick was a
popular choice for the day.
Tim Mason and Janet Gaywood, having driven from Stirling had a latish
start for White Hill, Curley Wee, and Lamachan Hill but did meet Harrold
Thomson and Suzanne Ullman who arrived in time to walk a similar route.
Connie Thomson and Monica Farrow had an energetic low-level walk.
Chris Everett and Mary Cunningham also climbed the Lamachan, but
having an earlier start met up with the Merrick crowd for a welcome beer
in the Glen Trool Hotel, resplendent with a collection of pigs.
