Alternative
minutes of the 49th AGM
Any
similarity between the alternative minutes and the real minutes is the
result of plagiarism.
Apologies
for absence
Some
member apologised for their absence. Some members did not apologise
for their absence. No members apologised for their presence.
Minutes
of the 2002 AGM
As
usual, there were some queries as to the accuracy of the previous
AGM’s minutes and various matters arising. These were all settled
quite amicably.
Treasurer’s
report and next year’s subscription
Dave
Webster reported that the club was flush with funds because the cost
of hiring the hall was lower than budgeted for. In consequence a
reduction in the subscription was proposed and accepted. However, in
order to keep things simple, the reduction for married couples would
be less than the reduction for single members and there would be an
increase for married couples Furth of Scotland because they are
insured through the MC of S.
Membership
Secretary’s report
Sue
Johnston reported that she had been Membership Secretary for four
years. During that time some enquirers had joined the club, some
enquirers had not joined the club, some members had left the club and
some members had not left the club. (A good
all-round performance.)
Chairman’s
report
Brian
McDaid reported on the outdoors adventures of the club. He also
reported that the club had been meeting in
Wellington
Church
hall for most of the season. Everyone present
seemed to be aware of that.
Brian
thanked the committee for what they had done over the past year. Sue
Johnston, David Watson and John MacLean are all standing down from the
committee so Brian gave them special thanks.
Election
of Office Bearers and committee
Everyone
nominated was elected unopposed so the carefully prepared voting slips
were not needed. The club decided that one chairman (Brian McDaid) and
one vice-chairman (Dave Webster) was not enough and so two ex-chairmen
(Henry Perfect and Arthur Whitaker) were elected as well.
Celebration
dinner
A
celebration dinner is planned for
30 October 2004
. In order to allow members to vote for something
they were asked to choose between the Piping Centre which had already
been booked, Glenmore Lodge which might not be available and Loch
Lomond Youth Hostel. In order to clarify the issue, members were
reminded that Loch Morlich Youth Hostel which is now known as
Cairngorm Lodge Youth Hostel was the original Glenmore Lodge before
this function was taken over by the current Glenmore Lodge and in the
circumstances it might be more appropriate if the 50th
celebration dinner was at Cairngorm Lodge Youth Hostel. In conclusion
Loch Lomond Youth Hostel was chosen as the preferred location.
Election
of Honorary Member
In
recognition of his long contribution to the Scottish outdoor movement,
both within and outside the club, Ken Wotherspoon was elected as
Honorary Member.
Any
other competent business
As
usual there was some more competent business. When there was no more
competent business the AGM ended.
